Art Show
Starting Sepetember 2nd, Scott Co., Bettendorf, and Davenport will accept art submissions to be displayed at the Figge on October 18th from 12-4:30pm. If anyone receives an art submission, just send it to me (Sarah). They need to return their art with the entry form. Each person can submit two works of art. They must be in a manga or graphic novel type style. Submissions will be accepted until October 3rd. We have to use tacks to display the art, so they might want to make a paper border around it. Judges from the Figge will give awards to the best artwork. Probably just a certificate and hopefully a gift card of some sort to Michaels or another art store.
Anime Fest
The day of the art show is also the day of the anime fest. While the artwork is on display, we will have candy sushi and tea tasting. We will also have a swap table so teens can bring their old graphic novels to swap for someone else's and a cosplay table so teens can use face paints and fabrics to dress like their favorite characters. At 1pm, a local artist will give a drawing workshop on creating graphic novels and comics. At 1:45 we will have a short cosplay fashion show followed by a showing of the anime movie, Spirited Away. After the movie, we will award prizes for the artwork. The Figge requires a $5 donation to attend the event.
I will send out the fliers and entry forms for this. Please hang it near your graphic novels and/or teen section. Here is a peak at what they look like
